Dr. Sukesh Zamwar, a versatile towering like personality of the modern co-operative movement in Maharashtra, was highly inspired by the Founder – President Hon. Radheshyam Chandak whose name will be forever inscribed in golden letters in the history of Co-operatives Societies in Maharashtra for his contributions towards the development of Co-operative Culture in the state of Maharashtra. An iconic personality in the 21st century co-operatives, helping the rural mass to be self-reliant.
He was born in Yavatmal a small town in Maharashtra. He did his schooling in the same place and then he got selected for MBBS at a prestigious Government Medical College at Nagpur, where he completed his M.B.B.S., and then he pursued his Master's in Orthopedic Surgery at Pravaranagri, Loni.
He went to Germany for post-graduation in Joint Replacement and his specialization in that. There he was in contact with different people and he turned to social development. He did his master's in Banking and Finance and he entered Buldana Urban Co-operatives enthusiastically. After joining the Buldana Urban, he made enormous changes in the institution and made technological upgradation. His committed work attracted the attention of various co-operative organizations and movement across the Asian Continent.
Within the span of twelve years, he placed the Buldana Urban to a new height with a 3.0 billion USD turnover and made millions of beneficiaries. Under his leadership, the Buldana Urban got the CUMI Award, the highest award of co-operatives in the Asia-Pacific Region. He’s the first Indian to get this award. He also got the highest national award from NCUI in the credit union sector and had also been nominated for the first URBAN Cluster Development Project.
